Q&A Bariatric Weightloss Surgery in Mexico | Bypass Complications RNY

I tried to answer as many questions as I could about my weight loss surgery in Mexico. Medical Tourism in Mexico is a huge thing. In fact, it’s much bigger than I thought at first. Having gastric bypass was the scariest decision I’ve ever made. And having surgery in Mexico was even scarier. But living like I was, I knew I wasn’t going to be around very long, and for the time I had left, my quality of life was so poor. So I took a leap of faith to try to get better health, have more confidence, and live life to it’s fullest! I hope I answered your questions. If I didn’t, you are welcome to leave me a comment and I will try my best to answer all of those. I am not endorsing any surgery, I AM NOT A HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL, THIS IS JUST MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. Love to you all!

Here is the protein that I mentioned in the video. It really is tasteless and so it mixes in with just about any food. My tip would be to always mix it into cold or room temperature products. It tends to get lumpy if you mix it into hot food.

  1. I'm so glad I found you! I live in Canada..I suffer from hypothyroidism, severe depression and trigeminal neuralgia. I've tried every diet under the sun. I lose but then put it all back on plus more. Since having trigeminal neuralgia my weight has gotten completely out of hand. I read the meds can make you gain rapidly. Did this happen to you? How does it affect you after surgery with the meds? I need to loose 115 pounds

  2. I had my gastric bypass done 6 plus years ago. I had diabetes, heart disease, and pulmonary hypertension. I was also one month away from turning 66. Because of my health issues, my insurance ( Medicare) paid for my surgery. In fact, insurance companies are paying for more people to have this surgery than ever before if they have any of the obesity related diseases.

I am still following most of the diet and have added more foods to my diet. I drink the occasional diet ginger ale, maybe once a month. I prefer seafood and chicken as beef and pork are still hard to digest. The doctor said that was typical. Iโ€™m careful about fatty foods as they still can make me nauseous. I love pasta, but it still makes me feel bloated, so I eat it rarely.

Yes, the skin sags and I would love to have surgery, but at almost 73, probably wonโ€™t waste the money. I did have a fair hair loss and it has never come back to what it was. I do relate some of that to age as well as the surgery.

I only wish I had done this years ago. Two of my sisters and a cousin have had this all with the same doctor. If you are considering this and have any health problems, this could be the biggest help you could give yourself.

  3. You are looking great! How much have you lost this far? My aunt, my niece and bff have all done so far,,,I now have the courage watching your story! Any update would be great! Sept 3

  4. Youโ€™re spot on about your concept of food and itโ€™s role in our lives. Youโ€™re way ahead of the game by realizing and educating yourself, getting counseling, etc. That was sorely lacking in my experience. It was my downfall. Sad, in my experience. Perfect surgery but poor recovery due to what youโ€™ve mentioned. Also make sure you get a lot of B 12 via injection and sublingual. So important. Thatโ€™s a lifetime focus as well!. Take good care. Love you! ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ˜˜๐ŸŒผ

  5. Melissa, you look fab. Youโ€™re always so beautiful. I wish you all the best in your recovery. Concentrate on getting enough protein and you treat your tummy very gently. Like a baby! Thatโ€™s what I was told years ago when I had the RnY. Iโ€™m very Happy for you! Blessings and hugs. Xo, Rachel ๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒธ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’„

  6. Good you are doing better. You look great, but you always do. We have a place near us that does this surgery. About 12 people at my hubs work have done it with our same insurance. My dr mentioned it to me, but I would worry about being sick after. I have had 7 in my family do it.

  7. Hey Mrs. Melissa! Thank you for the video! Prayers for continued success! You mentioned reading about how to change your mindset about eating. Do you have any suggestions about books to read? Thanks again!

  8. You covered a lot of information very well!! I'm 15 months out from RNY and I've reached my goal weight so now I'm trying to maintain. That can be tricky too. You are doing great – keep up the great work!!!

  9. Hi Melissa!! I learned a lot in this video! Iโ€™m so glad everything is better now. Youโ€™ve been through a lot! I can see the happiness in your face. Youโ€™re just beaming!! Hugs ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜˜
